Shannon is a dedicated mental health professional with over 30 years of experience working with young people and families as they navigate complex systems of care. Her passion for people spans all ages as she brings a wealth of both educational and lived experience to every relationship she builds. Shannon grounds her work in DBT and CBT, with a special interest in adoption-competent interventions. She also draws from a foundation of other approaches, including motivational interviewing, neurosequential modeling and solution-focused, narrative and structural family therapies. With a deep respect and regard for all, Shannon believes in her heart that we all hold our own answers—and knows in her mind that even the impossible can be achieved when we find them.
Shannon spent much of her career with the Madison Metropolitan School District, where she served as the district’s first nationally certified school social worker. Now retired, she returns to her roots in mental health practice with renewed energy and deepened insight. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from UW–Milwaukee and a Master of Science in Social Work from UW–Madison.
When she’s not working, Shannon enjoys laughing, learning, listening to people’s stories, lingering in flower gardens and loving the time with her grown daughter, husband and their two small (but mighty) Shih Tzus.
