Abby Welch graduated from UW-Whitewater with graduate degrees in School Psychology. Prior to joining FLYY, she worked as a School Psychologist for fifteen years. Most recently she was a school psychologist at Winnequah School in the Monona Grove School District. Across her time in schools, she has had the opportunity to partner with countless children, adolescents and families to problem solve and support a wide range of social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges.

 

Abby has a passion for working with individuals and their caregivers. She enjoys creating an environment of safety and trust with her clients and believes that the brain and body move towards health unless blocked or hindered. Abby approaches her work with compassion, unconditional positive regard for her clients and curiosity. She strives to create affirming spaces where clients can be their authentic selves. Abby has experience with working with children and adolescents using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques, mindfulness and trauma-focused approaches.

 

Outside of work, Abby enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She feels most at peace in nature. Abby enjoys hiking, boating with her family, creating through macrame and relaxing with a good book.
